Vicki Montague Bleus holds a BA in Sociology from Boston University
and is currently enrolled in a Masters of Environmental Management
program at the University of Maryland University College.
Onyemobi Desta Anyiwo holds a BA in African Studies and a BS in
Engineering from the University of Maryland and is pursuing a
Masters in Public Administration from Bowie State University.
As the owner of a general contracting construction company, Phoenix Contractors,
Inc., Vicki shifted her company’s focus to energy efficiency. Vicki has conducted
Volunteer Energy Assessments with Weatherize DC and has helped to install green
roofs as a volunteer with DC Greenworks. Environmental events Vicki has
participated in include The Black Farmers and Urban Gardeners Conference, the
Rooting DC Urban Gardening Forum, and UDC’s International Urban Sustainability
Summit.
Desta is a Building Performance Institute, Inc. Certified Building Associate. He is a
graduate of Heathcote Community’s Permaculture Design Course as well as the
Urban Commercial Agricultural Course at ECO City Farms. Desta has also
conducted Volunteer Energy Assessments with Weatherize DC. Environmental
events Desta has participated in include The Black Farmers and Urban Gardeners
Conference, the Rooting DC Urban Gardening Forum, UDC’s International Urban
Sustainability Summit, Power Shift, the DC Green Festival, and the weeklong
PeaceWeavers National Building Colloquium. Desta is currently employed by Edge
Energy.
